My name is Denise Nassar Rice, I am originally from Costa Rica, but have lived in the USA since 1996. Our family now calls sunny Huntington Beach, California home.
I’m not a chef or a naturopath or a nutritionist, just a regular mom who thrives on feeding my family the healthiest foods available.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN… Growing up in Costa Rica, I was fortunate enough to have been fed REAL foods: fruits, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. As an older sister and with a working mom, I learned how to cook at a very young age and with very limited resources, by simply being creative and experimenting with diffferent foods.
When I moved to America, I was blown away by what people here called “food”., but, It wasn’t until after I became a mom, I really started developing a fascination for the healing powers of foods. I began reading everything I could about nutrition and healthy cooking. After being diagnosed as Gluten Sensitive in 2009, I began to try new gluten-free recipes that I developed and when more and more of my friends began to ask for these recipes, an idea was born; I realized that a lot of people struggle with creating healthy, fast and easy to make meals, so, I decided to create this site to share some of my family’s favorite recipes.
All of my recipes are gluten free, I also don’t consume soy or processed sugars and for the most part I stay away from grains, dairy, and all the things that make me feel bloated, tired or uncomfortable. I only sweeten my dishes with fruit, dates and occasionaly raw honey, so, if you are looking for a healthier and lighter alternative to starchy and sugary treats you have come to the right page
